Report to State

We have been invited to participate in the 65th Annual Report to the State of Texas and help kick-off the 104th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

The event begins at 7:00 AM on Feb. 1, 2014 with a delegate’s breakfast and will continue with a parade of thousands of Scouts up Congress Avenue to the State Capitol. Report to State Ceremonies will begin at 11:30 AM in the House of Representatives.  Each Council will select one youth to report on their Council’s achievements from the past year.

Last year was my first experience as Staff Advisor for this event and my family and I had a blast. The Scouts loved it and even had their picture made with the Governor. You can experience history with your Scouts and watch as they truly have a wonderful time.

All monies and registration must be in the hands of the Texas Trails Council Office by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8th!

After Wednesday, the Report to State Committee will select a Scout to be our speaker on the floor of the House of Representatives. I hope you will consider this event as an activity for your Pack or Troop!

2013 – Pecan Valley District Annual Business Meeting and Elections

In accordance with the Texas Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America bylaws this is official notice of the District Annual Business Meeting and Elections.

Mrs. Johna Elliot, District Nominating Committee Chairman of the Pecan Valley District of the Texas Trails, Boy Scouts of America, proudly announces that the following community leaders serve on the 2013 Pecan Valley District Nominating Committee for the recommendation of district officers and Members-at-Large: Debbie Beverly, Lauren Pulley, Steve Phillips, Alex Aguerro and Jeff Justice.

The District Annual Meeting and Elections will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 7:00 P.M. at Mills County State Bank Community Building. (Across from Mills County State Bank Goldthwaite, Texas)

Chartered Organization Representatives and Members-at-Large of the Pecan Valley District, and Executive Board Members of the Texas Trails Council residing in our district’s territory, are invited to make recommendations of possible nominees in writing to the Pecan Valley District Nominating Committee for consideration and are eligible to vote at the Annual Business Meeting and Elections.

Nominations and recommendations must be submitted in writing no later than December 6, 2013. Active members should send their recommendations to: Johna Elliot, Pecan Valley District, Texas Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, 108 W Anderson Street, Brownwood, Texas 76801. Nominations are not accepted from the floor.
The slate of officers for the 2014 year will be voted on at this meeting.

Annual Training Day – Sept. 7, 2013

Dear Pecan Valley District Scouters:

Attached is the registration information for our annual Training Day. This year we will be having the event on the Howard Payne University Campus in Brownwood. The details are on one attachment, and a campus map is the other. Please forward this information to your Troop and Pack leaders. We are offering more sessions this year. The focus is on having all of our adult leaders trained for their positions. Please review and contact me if you have any questions.

Also, please send in your registrations as early as possible next week following your pack and troop meetings.
